Crucial MROs MDH/SIA Complex
In conjunction with Southern Illinois Airport, Crucial MROs hangar complex has near future expansion to include two additional hangars plus warehousing and support shop space. MDH offers dedicated ramp for Crucial to park and store aircraft. Its runway/taxi system has accommodated up to Boeing 767 with its longest runway being 6500 feet in length. Crucial MROs hangars are designed to house the largest Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 manufactured today. Hangar 11 is outfitted with a tail door for longer narrow body aircraft.
Staffing, Programs and Growing the Crucial Team.
One of the decision making benefits of developing Crucial MRO at MDH was the location of Southern Illinois Universities Mechanics and Pilot School across the street. The school is producing technicians that want to continue to live in the area building our core. Crucial and SIU have collaborated to create the Aviation Cooperative Education Program which allows the students to work with Crucial on commercial aircraft AND receive college credits. Additionally the graduates with this program carry commercial jet experience when they apply elsewhere.
The pilots program at SIU logs over 140,000 departures and arrivals making it the third busiest airport in Illinois.
